2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 Review: US Price, Specs, Fuel Economy and Why It's Still the Smartest Luxury SUV

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 doesn't need a full redesign to stay on top. While Mercedes is launching a completely separate electric GLC for 2027, the gas GLC 300 continues as the brand's best-selling luxury compact SUV in America, and it remains the most balanced choice in the $50k to $65k segment.

What's New and What You Get Standard

For 2027 there are no major changes, which is actually good news. The lineup is now GLC 300 SUV, GLC 300 4MATIC SUV, GLC 350e Plug-in Hybrid, and the new AMG GLC 53 which replaces the old GLC 43. Every GLC 300 comes standard with 19-inch wheels, full LED headlights and taillights, a panoramic glass roof, heated power front seats with memory, synthetic leather upholstery, wireless charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the 3rd-generation MBUX system with Hey Mercedes voice control and DISTRONIC adaptive cruise.

Prototypes of the upcoming facelift have already been spotted with the new star-motif headlights and MB.OS software, but for now the current interior is still the benchmark for build quality and comfort.

Engine and Driving Experience

Under the hood is a proven powertrain: a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system producing 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard, 4MATIC all-wheel drive is optional. Mercedes quotes 0-60 mph in 6.2 seconds for RWD and 6.3 seconds for 4MATIC. Real-world fuel economy is 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined for the RWD model. The mild-hybrid system eliminates turbo lag, enables smooth auto start/stop, and adds a coasting function that makes highway driving quieter and more efficient.

US Price for 2027

Official MSRP from Mercedes-Benz USA: The 2027 GLC 300 SUV starts at $52,400, the GLC 300 4MATIC SUV starts at $54,400, and the GLC 300 4MATIC Coupe starts at $62,950. A fully loaded example with AMG Line, Exclusive Line, Night Package and Winter Package typically stickers around $63,000 to $64,500. All models include a 4-year / 50,000-mile warranty and the 2027 model has no recalls reported.

Its 3 Main Competitors

Before you buy a GLC 300 you need to drive its three closest rivals. The BMW X3 30 xDrive starting around $50,900 is the sportiest option with sharper steering and a firmer ride but a less premium cabin, the Audi Q5 Sportback starting around $55,600 is the tech-focused choice with standard quattro AWD and quicker acceleration than the GLC Coupe while costing slightly less, and the Volvo XC60 B5 starting at $50,995 is the comfort and safety pick with the best seats and Google built-in infotainment but it loses to the GLC on resale value and infotainment responsiveness.

Conclusion

The 2027 GLC 300 is not trying to be the fastest or the flashiest. It is the most complete package. It delivers true luxury feel, usable technology, a smooth and efficient 255-hp mild-hybrid engine, and a logical price point from $52,400. If you want an SUV that feels expensive every day and will still feel modern in three years, the GLC 300 remains the smartest buy in the compact luxury SUV class.
