Thousands of Ford Trucks Recalled in the U.S. Over Blackout Glitch in Digital Dashboard

Ford has announced a major recall affecting over 355,000 pickup trucks across the United States due to a critical software issue in the instrument cluster. The malfunction can cause the digital dashboard to go completely dark when the engine starts, making it impossible for drivers to see essential information such as speed, warning lights, or fuel levels—posing a serious safety risk.

The recall includes 2025 F‑150 models and 2025–2026 Super Duty trucks ranging from the F‑250 to the F‑550. The glitch stems from a software defect in parts manufactured between June 2024 and July 2025. Although no accidents or injuries have been reported so far, Ford has already received nearly 100 warranty claims related to the issue.

To fix the problem, Ford is offering a free software update, which can be completed either over-the-air or at authorized dealerships. Affected owners will be notified by mail in the coming weeks.

This recall adds to a growing list of 2025 safety campaigns for the company, including issues with rearview cameras and fuel injector leaks in other popular models like the Bronco Sport and Escape.
