The 2026 Toyota Camry arrives with hybrid power as standard across every
trim, and that single decision reshapes the whole car. There is no four
cylinder base engine any more and no V6 at the top.
What's new
The fifth generation hybrid system pairs a 2.5 litre four cylinder with
two electric motors for a combined 225 horsepower in front wheel drive
form. All wheel drive models add a rear motor and bring the total to 232
horsepower.
Fuel economy
Front wheel drive LE trims are rated at 51 mpg city and 53 mpg highway.
In a week of mixed driving we saw 47 mpg without trying, which is close
enough to the sticker to call it honest.
Interior and technology
A 12.3 inch touchscreen is standard on all but the base trim. Wireless
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connect quickly and stayed connected.
The verdict
The Camry is not exciting and does not pretend to be. It is quiet,
efficient and built to still be running in ten years. For most buyers
that is the entire argument.
